Dimension X is Hatch’s flagship global open innovation challenge that balances the need for rapid proof-of-concept validation and the importance of actual public safety operational requirements.
Our programme is designed to crowdsource for deep-tech start-ups, university spin-outs, and scale-ups across all industry sectors, countries, and funding stages. Technology innovators can validate their deep-tech solutions against real-world public safety challenges faced by Singapore’s Home Team.
Over four months, selected teams work alongside end-users and technical stakeholders to develop proofs-of-concept and demonstrate their impact, with successful projects having further opportunities to explore pathways towards operational deployment.

From autonomous systems and AI-powered analytics to advanced sensing technologies and operational intelligence, Home Team end-user agencies have worked with global start-up innovators via Dimension X to tackle a myriad of real-world public safety challenges.
While our published Dimension X challenges rotate every cohort, most of these operational needs remain of relevance. Browse our archive to understand the technology opportunities Singapore’s public safety ecosystem can offer.

Dimension X provides innovators with the resources, connections, and opportunities needed to validate their technologies in real-world public safety environments. Through non-dilutive funding, direct engagement with public safety stakeholders, and access to Hatch’s innovation network and ecosystem, successful participants can accelerate development of a working proof-of-concept and demonstrate real impact in Singapore’s public safety.
Apply NowCollaborate directly with public safety challenge owners and stakeholders to understand the challenge’s operational needs and contexts.
Connect with industry leaders, senior public safety stakeholders, strategic partners, investors, and global innovation ecosystems that can accelerate your growth beyond the programme.
Showcase the viability and impact of your proof-of-concept in real-world conditions during on-site tests.
Pitch live to public safety and innovation ecosystem leaders, investors, and government stakeholders for other innovation and funding opportunities in Singapore and beyond.
Post-programme advisory service with guidance and opportunities to move projects towards operational trials and deployment.
Receive SG$100,000 in non-dilutive funding to develop and validate your proof-of-concept remotely or in Singapore.
Explore what your prospective journey in Dimension X could look like, including the key milestones from programme acceptance to graduation.
Our application process is deliberately kept lightweight to respect the time and resources of all parties involved. The crux of what we need to know is simple – how can your innovative deep-tech solution solve the published challenge?
Apply NowThere are no geographical or company size requirements for participation. All applicants must either own the IPs or have a valid license to use the IPs of the technology solution proposed.
Dimension X looks for deep-tech solutions in reference range of Tech Readiness Levels 4 to 7. The key is for the company to have a technology in the form of a working prototype, but untested in the public safety operational environment.
Start-ups can apply for more than one challenge statement by selecting them in the application form. Applicants are to ensure that the pitch deck submitted explains its technologies and how they are relevant to the selected challenge statement(s).
Applicants will be evaluated on their fit to challenge, novelty of technology, relevant team experience, and business model. The entire selection process is conducted virtually.
Shortlisted applicants will receive an invitation to pitch their company and technology to the challenge owners.
Finalists will get a chance to meet with the challenge owners in a one-to-one virtual meeting to learn more about the challenge statement(s). After which the applicant will be asked to submit a proposal for the final selection.
A panel of Hatch, Home Team challenge owners and relevant tech experts from HTX (Home Team Science & Technology Agency) will evaluate the applications.
Hatch does not retain any equity or ownership of the solution developed during the programme. Participants retain full and exclusive ownership of their information and intellectual property rights.
Applicants offering customisations to existing solutions to meet challenge requirements are eligible for Dimension X.
However, applicants with purely market-ready products without customisations will not be eligible for Dimension X, and may still get in touch with Hatch to be considered for other programmes.
Participants will be expected to develop a working proof-of-concept each during the programme.
All participants will also be required to fly twice to Singapore for a period of one week each – during onboarding week and at the end of the programme for Demo Day and on-site tests.
The prize money is intended to cover all proof-of-concept development costs and travel arrangements. No extra travel allowance will be disbursed.
The S$100,000 prize money is intended to cover all POC development costs and travel arrangements. It will be disbursed in two tranches: 1) 50% after contract signing; and 2) 50% after submission of information for closing report.
Both of these will be held in Singapore, with all participants required to be in-country to attend them. The former will be held at a location selected by the challenge owner. The Demo Day is on a separate day and location, and includes exhibition time and a pitch slot per participant.
Please do not resubmit your proposal. Reach out to the Hatch team via the contact form the changes or amendments to your original submission.
The exact number of awarded applicants for each challenge statement depends on the challenge owner, with the default otherwise being one.
If selected, Hatch will match a challenge owner that covers a related domain area to champion the proof-of-concept development in the programme.
The information submitted by applicants will only be made available to:
Hatch
Selection panel
Challenge owners from the contributing public safety agencies (e.g. Home Team)
If selected, a participant's proposed solution may be announced in the public domain for the purpose of marketing promotions.
Access to (potentially) sensitive data are handled on a case-by-case basis between the awarded applicant and the challenge owner. Depending on the target outcome, if real data cannot be shared, the challenge owner may request the use of open source or simulated data.
Hatch will provide support and guidance for scaling successful proofs-of-concept from Dimension X towards opportunities for operational trials, with the eventual goal of deployment.
